Excerpt: |
The cooperation between Family, School and Church is essential to ensure a successful education. Also important are the guiding lights of life: faith in God and the unique and eternal value of the human person. We must not also forget that the family has a key role to play in setting children’s values and thus in educating young people.

The pastoral letter of the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church on the Sunday of Orthodoxy in 2015 starts with the iconoclastic crisis that shook the Eastern Church and the Byzantine Empire in the VIII-IX century, and then presents the arguments for which Christians depict Jesus Christ in icons and for which they honour the icons, which are „windows to heaven”.

Excerpt: |
The icon is a liturgical object, used both for common prayers (in the church), but also for private ones (at home). The icon fulfils its role as mediator, especially in the act of the sanctifying service, during the service of the Holy Liturgy. The distinction within the cult between artistic and iconic, between secular and ecclesiastical, was made from the beginning, even from the time of the emperor Constantine the Great. On the other hand, the absence of icons in Protestantism and neo-Protestantism proves to be a direct consequence of the absence of the sanctifying cult in these denominations. The relationship between the icon and the uncreated divine grace is also approached, the author mentioning the Palamite dispute and finally showing that the icon is one of the ways that lead to the acquisition of grace.

Excerpt: |
In the context of the elevation of the Romanian Orthodox Church to the rank of Patriarchate (1925), Patriarch Miron Cristea organized the entire activity of the Church, taking care of the religious singing. Thus, in order to capitalize on his own church musical identity, to explore the unique national treasure through the nature of spirituality that runs through it, threatened by destructive influences foreign to the religious factor, the patriarch proposes the establishment of an Academy of Religious Music.

Excerpt: |
Press censorship during the communist regime did not bypass the Orthodox church press either. Between 1948 and 1989, the censorship of periodicals of any religious nature was made to eradicate this „harmful disease”. The fall of the communist regime through the December 1989 Revolution will change the editorial policy of these magazines. The articles published in December 1989 and January 1990 are clear evidence that both the hierarchs of the Romanian Orthodox Church and the Orthodox theologians denounced the communist regime as harmful to the Church and to Romanian society.

The present study aims to clarify some aspects related to this character, which some works, relatively recent, erroneously call Carabulea instead of Caralea, but also some considerations regarding the years of his life and occupation. At the same time, on this occasion, we launch a unique hypothesis, namely that of the Aromanian origin of the founder, a hypothesis in support of which we will bring some arguments, especially related to the name of Caralea.

The pastoral letter sent to all parishes and monasteries of the Romanian Patriarchate, regarding the meanings of The Homage Year of the Parish and Monastery Mission Today and the Commemorative Year of St. John Chrysostom and the great Guides of Souls from the Dioceses. The cooperation between the parish and the school, between the priest and the teachers, especially the religion teacher, is a key factor for the success of the mission of both institutions. St. John Chrysostom is a shining figure in the history of the Church, an example worthy of being followed by Christians of all times.

Address delivered on January 1, 2015 in the Patriarchal Cathedral, on the proclamation of the Homage Year 2015, dedicated to the parish and monastery mission today and to St. John Chrysostom and the great guides of souls from the dioceses. The author emphasizes that in the parish where there is no church, no priest, no parish house, or the priest does not live in the community, there are more cases of alcoholism, more loneliness and less solidarity between people. Monasteries are bright landmarks for the whole society and a source of spiritual power for the Church.

Excerpt: |
The missionary catechesis is one of the solutions through which the Church can return to the true faith those who, under the influence of the new religious movements that proliferated after 1990 and under an avalanche of particularly diverse information transmitted through the media channels, have moved away from the teachings of the faith. The author presents how the catechist should be and makes an analysis of those to whom the catechesis is addressed and concludes by presenting the elements of a successful catechesis, emphasizing the fundamental role of the Holy Mass in it.
